About Mr. Dudley
In front of Skógafoss waterfall in Iceland 2011
Hello all!
My name is Mr. Dudley, and I am happy to be sharing this website with you.
I became a teacher because I believe that education is the most powerful tool in the world. Specifically, I have a passion for Biology and Physiology. I think everybody should have a basic understanding of the living world that they are a part of.
I think learning should be an active experience, not a passive by-product. In order for students to succeed in my classes, they need to be engaged in the learning process. I want all students to contribute personal experiences and prior knowledge.
Expect to work hard in my class. Science is not easy. Scientific concepts require abstract thinking. Students are expected to use experiments, data, and factual knowledge to develop their own theories and understanding of science concepts.
I think science, and Biology specifically, should be social and personal experience. Students should never refrain from asking, or answering questions because they are afraid to "sound stupid." I aim to establish a friendly and professional learning environment where every students opinion is appreciated.
Who is Mr. Dudley?
I graduated with my Masters in Teaching from Johns Hopkins University in 2013
I graduated with a degree in Exercise Physiology from Ohio University in 2011 (Go Bobcats).
I graduated from Quince Orchard high school in Gaithersburg, MD in 2007
I was four-year varsity wrestler, and team captain my junior and senior years in high school.
I am a die-hard Baltimore Orioles fan. I also am a Washington Redskins fan, and Maryland Basketball fan.
My favorite movies are Forrest Gump, Fargo, and No Country For Old Men.
My favorite book is The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald (Although I didn't "get it" in High School)
I also love Slaughterhouse-Five and Cat's Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut.
I am always open to new ideas and opinions. I think learning can happen everyday if you let it.
